Loading this grinder is difficult, because the unit must be placed upside down for the process, and yet it can not balance on its head. One hand must hold the grinder while the other one does 'the work'. Once the salt is loaded (while the grinder is upside down), the batteries are packed on bottom. But once the batteries are in, being in the upside-down position causes the grinder to begin grinding.

Also: we are a family of eight. Using the grinder for three meals a day have meant we are exchanging the batteries every ten days or so. Way too often.

In short: poorly designed, awkward to load, and lots of maintenance needed. Buy something else.
